Metal Community Speaks About Paris Terror Attacks
Tragedy struck Paris, France last week when a group of terrorists launched simultaneous attacks across the city. One such attack occurred at the Bataclan concert venue, where the Eagles of Death Metal were playing a show with the band Deftones. Over a 100 attendees were killed or injured in the attack.
Members from the bands Halestrom, Anthrax, Slipknot, Metallica, Opeth, Pantera, and many more offered their thoughts and prayers to those affected by the attack. Other bands with plans of touring have cancelled their remaining tour dates. According to reports from LoudWire.com, members from Eagles of Death Metal and Deftones are all safe and accounted for. Most of the tweets and reactions to the attack at the Bataclan have come from hard rock and heavy metal artists whose bands have performed there at some point or know people who were there when the attack took place.
The Eagles of Death Metal have released a statement regarding the event:
While the band is now home safe, we are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France. Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones.
Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.
We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil.
All EODM shows are on hold until further notice.
Vive la musique, vive la liberté, vive la France, and vive EODM.
I play these venues,I know these people, the fans, the crew, the photographers, the journalists. It's an attack on my world. ❤️to🇫🇷!
