10 Must-Haves for Conquering Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening is right around the corner and while you’re anxiously counting down the days, planning outfits, and checking the schedules, there are a few essential items that are frequently forgotten. To ensure you make the most out of your festival time, here are Spring Awakening 2015’s 10 Must-Haves.

  1. Probably the most important thing on this whole list: water. It’s easy to overlook while you’re dancing and enjoying the music, but be sure to keep hydrated. If you don’t want to carry around a bottle, a Camelbak is a great investment for hands-free hydration.

  2. Suncreen. Be sure to slather it on before you hit the festival grounds, but bringing an extra bottle to reapply with during the day is also helpful. You don’t want to return home looking like a lobster.
  3. Earplugs. Protect your ears for many Spring Awakenings to come. Downbeats earplugs reduce the sound without reducing sound quality, and help combat against ringing ears the next day, all while being reasonably priced. Another great brand is V-moda earplugs, which are available on Amazon for $20.

  4. Fanny Pack. Luckily these are back in style, and you could probably raid your mother’s closet for one of these (bonus points if it looks like it is straight from the 80s.) These are perfect for storing all your festival needs and are much less bulky than a backpack. If you can’t find a fanny pack at home, Poshmark has all the fanny packs your heart could desire.

  5. Baby wipes. They’re incredibly versatile, and perfect for cooling off or cleaning up sweat/mud/spilled drinks.
  6. Comfortable shoes, because nothing is more painful than dealing with uncomfortable shoes while dancing and standing for three days.
  7. Portable charger. Between all the pictures and videos you’re going to take, a phone battery wears down quickly. Keeping a Mophie charger on you, or in your fanny pack, is a great idea. The Anker Astro Mini charger small enough to easily fit in a pocket (it’s the size of a tube of lipstick) and can charge all types of phones. This versatile charger is available here.

  8. Small Ziplock bag. While it may sound odd, bringing a Ziplock is a great idea, especially if it rains. A small Ziplock bag can easily save a cell phone from water damage. It’s also a good idea to keep important items in here so they’re all in one place, such as a phone, ID, money, and ticket.
  9. Bandaids. For the minor injury, these will keep you out of the medic tent the whole festival. Also they can be used to prevent blisters if your shoes are rubbing.
  10. Deodorant. For the love of God, please use deodorant. The stronger the antiperspirant the better. A travel size deodorant will easily fit in a fanny pack so there’s no excuse to be smelly.

By keeping these tips in mind and remembering the essentials you’re sure to have a great time at Spring Awakening, so party on.
