Conway Releases ‘From King To God’

On September 11th, Griselda Record’s Conway The Machine released his debut studio album titled, From King To God. Conway is the brother of rapper Westside Gunn, and cousin to Benny The Butcher. He is arguably the most skilled rapper of the group, and it shows every time he picks up a microphone.

Conway’s Background

Conway is a master of both metaphor and flow, and it’s evident as he skates around hip-hop beats with his wordplay and displays his skill whenever the can. He has a talent that is virtually unmatched, despite having Bell’s Palsy from a gun wound, leaving half his face paralyzed. Conway’s injures have left him with a very unique sound.

He is a product of Buffalo, New York. Conway had an extensive life in the streets of New York as a drug dealer in his past and uses his music to paint a very real picture of his city. He is a very intelligent rapper who often ties current events into his music and provides insight on America as a whole. He understands and copes to the damage caused by his past and provides advice to others on the same path.

From King To God

The album is one of the best rap albums I’ve heard all year. Every song on the album is filled with bars and Conway’s deliver suggests that he is as hungry as ever. The album includes interludes that would lead you to believe that Conway wants people to know exactly how much work he is putting into the content he releases. The album features Lloyd Banks, Freddie Gibbs, Method Man, Havoc, Benny The Butcher, Westside Gunn, and more.

The album is definitely worth the listen, and you can immediately tell by the level of production. This is a project you must listen to if you call yourself a true hip-hop fan. Griselda’s future as a music group seems to be in good hands, despite Westside Gunn’s recent decision to retire from rapping. From King To God is available on Apple Music and Spotify.
