Let’s Get Together at Home
#TogetherAtHome is possibly the most inspiring initiative to rise from the ashes of this dark time. The partnership between WHO and Global Citizen, an organization using music to drive world poverty relief, has brought fans into the homes of their favorite musical artists for intimate, virtual concerts.
The concerts have featured big names like Jack Johnson and Jennifer Hudson; lead singers from The Lumineers, Coldplay and Barenaked Ladies and even a harmonizing Camilla Cabello and Shawn Mendes. These concerts aim to encourage social distancing, ease anxiety and promote global health, but it is so much more than that! It gives fans a peek into the lives of their favorite artists, humanizes them and encourages interaction through live requested songs.
The wide access and interactivity had me wondering if this initiative has the power to forever change the traditional format of a concert. As a 5’2” music fanatic, I’ve been pushed, pummeled and boxed out in every venue imaginable. For me, these big-name concerts could potentially be better when enjoyed from the comfort of my couch.
