Solange Surprises with “When I Get Home”

Last week, Twitter was in shock as they discovered that Solange had took to social networking site, BlackPlanet.com, to tease her new album.

Solange created her own page, which features different promotional images for the new album, When I Get Home. The images have her in a western-themed setting, wearing cowboy boots, body makeup, and even show her doing pole tricks while on a stripper pole.

A day or so after the release of the images, Solange released the tracklist for When I Get Home, which has features from Gucci Mane, Playboi Carti, Tyler, the Creator, Cassie, Earl Sweatshirt, Metro Boomin, and so many more wonderful artists you all know!

Solange describes When I Get Home as, “warm, fluid and more sensual” than her last one, referring to 2016’s “A Seat at the Table.” Also, in her most recent interview with i-D Magazine, she mentions, “there is a lot of jazz at the core,” she tells i-D, “but with electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle.”

With the release of the album, Solange released a 33 minute film that goes along with the album. The When I Get Home film was directed and edited by Solange with contributing directors Alan Ferguson, Terence Nance, Jacolby Satterwhite, and Ray Tintori. The film shows Solange cruising through the Third Ward of Houston, while the album serves as the soundtrack to her trip.
