What’s Going on with Lollapalooza 2019?
Lollapalooza 4-Day tickets went on sale yesterday. These past two years Lollapalooza has not sold-out their 4-Day passes on the same day they’ve gone on sale.
The Chicago Tribune claim that the slow down of sales could be due to the incident in Las Vegas where a mass shooter killed 50 individuals at Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. The shooter had booked a hotel right across Grant Park during the Lollapalooza weekend. Thankfully, nothing happened here, but it did spook festival goers in wondering about their safety. Lollapalooza officials say that their number one priority is the safety of festival goers and every year bump extra security for the fest.
Lollapalooza is in competition with a lot of other festivals out there so the slow sales aren’t something that’s surprising. Lollapalooza will just have to keep bringing new and unique things to the festival to keep it alive. The festival itself gathers close to 400,000 people each day.
Last year we had some big headliners like Jack White, Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott, Vampire Weekend and many others.
There was some backlash about last years line-up due to some people saying that the line-up included too many pop artist and that pop dominated this year at Lollapalooza.
We did have some big names from the music industry, but a lot of these artists were incredibly popular that year so to see them at a huge festival is not surprising. Lollapalooza 2018 had a lot of artist from different genres including Hip-Hop, Alternative, Rock, Trap, Pop, Indie and many more.
I think most importantly these festivals are not just about watching your favorite artist but, also discovering new bands and artist to add to your favorites list.
