Canibass: 3 Marijuana-Friendly Music Festivals
Music & marijuana.
A timeless combination, really!
Tokes and tunes have been lifelong dance partners, and have habitually been used to enhance one another. This phenomenon is not exclusive to electronic music; this is the way it’s always been, and honestly probably the way it will always be.
So, why don’t music festivals accommodate this everlasting relationship?
Finally, in our day and age we are coming upon some festivals that are keeping up with the times. Although festivals are not permitted to sell THC products, and most “technically” don’t let you smoke, pot promotions and activities take place at the following festivals:
ARISE MUSIC FESTIVAL
This festival is taking place August 2-4 in LoveLand, CO, at the Sunrise Ranch. With previous headliners like Tipper, Beats Antique, Late Night Radio, Atmosphere, Maddy O’ Neal, Opuio, CharlesTheFirst, Bass Physics & more; this festival has a legacy for groovin’. This year’s full lineup has yet to be released, but the rumor of two Tipper sets was confirmed.
This is an all ages festival, and it is pot-activist friendly.
Not only is there much love for the cannabis culture, but in LoveLand, there’s lots of love for the land. One thing I admire this festival for is their efforts to stay green (in more ways than one). Arise Music Festival has made it a promise to leave no trace. With every ticket purchase, they plant a tree. There is no plastic water bottle sales, just free water, so bring your reusable bottle!
They also plan on diminishing their carbon footprint by using bio-diesel to power the stages, & partnering with ZERO-HERO compost for all their recyclables. I think more festivals should take after Arise, this kind of movement keeps the community and the land happy and excited for the return. These organizers must be thinking about the big picture. Props to them!
Before you go, make sure to stop at The Farm dispensary to stock up everything you’ll need for the magical weekend. As a sponsor of the festival, The Farm Rec. Marijuana Dispensary has great offers going on surrounding the festival’s dates. A popular deal from last year was “Buy pack of joints and get 30% off an eighth of flower!”
Ticket can be found here.
4/20 ON THE BLOCK
Located at the Fox Street Compound in Denver, CO, 4/20 on the block has all you could ever dream of when it comes to your festivities. Artists like Break Science, Lettuce, Michael Menert, & Supervision have been seen on this chill bill. This is a 21+ festival that takes place over 4/20’s weekend, and has tons of dope activities.
4/20 on the block is the epitome of what a cannabis celebration should be. “The goal is to celebrate Denver’s cannabis culture in a fun and legal way,” Cynthia Ord with World Cannabis Week commented.
In such a bustling city, it’s often forgotten how unifying cannabis really is. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with good music & a 4/20 Bazaar! That’s right! Along with the festival, the 4/20 Bazaar Vendor market takes place simultaneously with the festival from 1P.M. to 8P.M. on Friday, and 12P.M. to 8P.M. Saturday and Sunday.
The Bazaar has tons of shops displaying glass, CBD, and other handmade crafts. Activities consist of carnival kush games, nug toss, weed olympics, & more! To participate, purchase your scorecard there or get one for free at Green Solutions locations between April 10, to April 20.
Prizes for these games are HUGE! According to their website, this year we are looking at a grand prize of an all-inclusive cannabis vacation from 420 Tours, $1000 prize pack, and $420 cash. A 2nd place prize of a year supply of joints (you read that right!), $500 prize pack and $420 cash. 3rd place gets 2 tickets to Greenhouse Grow & Dispensary tour, and a $100 gift card to The Green Solution.
Tickets have yet to go on sale, but last years prices were looking like $25 a day for GA. and $60 a day for VIP. Keep posted at their website.
There are also tons of discounted after parties when you purchase a festival ticket. Trust me, when the holidays roll in, you wont want to miss this “Mile High Block Party.”
OUTSIDE LANDS
What better way to experience bud and bangerz than bringing it back to where it all began. Outside Lands is a festival located at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA, which takes place this year from August 9-11. Above & Beyond, Louis the Child, Odesza, Illineum, and Big Gigantic are just some of the major artists that have been seen on this lineup in the 12 years that the festival has gone on.
Drawing from the Summer of Love, Outside Lands is revolutionary in the relationship of marijuana & music festivals. Even after legalization in the state, many major festivals like Coachella prohibited pot completely. Outside Lands, on the other hand, went for a full-blown cannabis curated theme.
Picture this: A ganja-themed Farmers Market, an interactive smell wall with botanical terpenes, a Confectionary with baked goods (unfortunately you won’t get baked off the goods but they will still satisfy your munchies), a Lemonade stand to cure your cotton mouth, and budtenders from The Greenhouse Dispensary who teach all about the flower and answer any questions you may have about the growing process, composition, or properties of pot.
With “Grass Lands” as the festival’s central hub, you can look forward to tons of reefer related encounters. This fest is perfect for the cannabis curious and connoisseur alike.
Tickets and the lineup have yet to be released, but dates are confirmed. Follow the events Facebook page or their website to stay tuned.
