Watsky Drops Dream Collabs & Fifth Album, “COMPLAINT”
Watsky’s new album Complaint dropped January 11, 2019. It follows his release back in 2016 of x Infinity, and Complaint features three songs that were previously released.
The album is rather a short one with just nine songs but, a good 28 minutes of some great music to listen to.
Watsky shared in an interview with Alternative Press that this album helped him become more confident in his own singing voice, and dig a bit deeper in certain themes revolving love and relationships, and the negative aspects of life that we sometimes tend to want to push to the side.
“I was writing a lot about relationship stuff with this project. I was in a really intense relationship, and it was really hard. I felt like it was important for me to share that with people.” Watsky says in the Alternative Press Interview.
Watsky also spoke about how this past year he went to therapy and that he pulled through from his conversations with his therapist to write his songs for Complaint.
Watsky’s new album shows the dark side of life, with some good beats and verses that work so smoothly together.
The album opens with, “Welcome To The Family,” an upbeat song that will definitely put you in a good mood. A very warm welcome from Watsky to fans that have known him or are just discovering him.
This being his first feature-free album, Watsky fully displays his talents with rapping and challenging himself to develop as a better well-rounded singer. A great quality that musicians should have; strive for improvement by challenging themselves with their craft.
In a recent video, Watsky answers a couple questions for Alternative Press, and talks about his dream collaboration with Twenty One Pilots, to gain some techniques with writing music. Hopefully we some of his dream collaborations come to life because I’m sure we will all be in for a treat.
