One year after, The Search For Everything came out, John Mayer releases his new single to the world.
The song, “New Light” is what John Mayer referred to on his Instagram as a “summer bop.” But, even more indulgent than this song is the strange music video Mayer released on May 24.
Titled on his Youtube as, John Mayer – New Light (Premium Content!), this low-budget video features Mayer poorly green screened into strange backgrounds. He is wearing what looks to be his pajamas for the length of the video.
In a tweet, Mayer joked “I needed to make a video for New Light but nobody could agree on a budget. (MUSIC INDUSTRY amirite?) So I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos.”
The meme-worthy video was clearly a hit with twitter users as the content was so unusual that it’s hilarious.
