During their set at 8123 Fest, a 10-year celebration of fellow Arizona-based band The Maine, The Summer Set are calling it quits as a fivesome after their own 10 years as a band. Rumors had been softly circulating for a couple of weeks that the The Summer Set were going to announce a break-up, and in the midst of festival excitement, several sources relayed that the group declared this particular performance as their last.
The Summer Set have spent the last year performing live on a fan-formulated tour called the Made For You Tour, showcasing their recently released album, Stories For Monday. Personalized tour components featured a fan voted setlist and even fan voted tour destinations, resulting in a unique live collaboration between artist and fanbase.
Despite releasing a new album and touring, the Summer Set members have been exploring separate avenues as of late. Drummer Jess Bowen accompanied 3OH!3 on several dates of the Vans Warped Tour this past summer. Early this morning, the band’s bass guitarist Stephen Gomez tweeted “Our band is not in a good place. I hope we can turn it around. We shall see” before quickly deleting the sentiments.
