5 Reasons To Be Pumped For North Coast Music Festival 2015
This year’s North Coast Music Festival is less that 20 days away and we hope you’re ready for an awesome weekend! And in case you’re looking for a few extra reasons to be excited, search no further! Red Roll has put together a list of the top 5 reasons you should be pumped for NCMF 2015:
1) The Lineup
North Coast has an awesome, and diverse, group of artists on their schedule for this September. There’s something for every music lover, with hip hop acts like Wale and Atmosphere, dance/house artists including Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, The Chemical Brothers, and Knife Party, and rock bands like Portugal. the Man and Widespread Panic. Check out our must-see sets of 2015 here.
2) The Location
Union Park is located on the city’s west side, and is part of the Chicago Park District program. The park was created by the city in the mid 1800s, and has been an important social hub throughout its history, especially during the early 1900s when Union Park became one of the first racially integrated public parks in Chicago. The 13-acre, culturally significant space is perfect for a music festival – it even provides a view of the amazing Chicago skyline!
3) The Contests
There is a fantastic opportunity for up and coming performers in North Coast Music Festival’s Toast of the Coast Competition, which gives one band and one DJ the chance to perform on a main stage at the fest. This year will mark the sixth annual Toast of the Coast contest, which has been going since the festival’s inception. Be sure to check out this year’s winners, Barragoon and The Gold Web, at the fest! You can even listen to both Barragoon and The Gold Web on SoundCloud before you go.
4) The Parties
There are over 15 official pre/after parties lined up for NCMF 2015, running Thursday Sept. 3rd through Monday Sept. 7th. On Friday night, you can catch Knife Party at The Mid or The Main Squeeze/Woo Park at Bottom Lounge. Saturday has even more shows lined up, including Steve Aoki at The Mid, Chromeo at Studio Paris, and The Disco Biscuits at Concord Music Hall. And Sunday’s after parties will feature performances by Kill The Noise (at Transit), After Green Velvet (at The Mid), Until The Ribbon Breaks (at Cobra Lounge), plus more! The official NCMF 2015 closing party will be held at Evil Olive on Monday, featuring Porn N Chicken with a special guest TBA. You can find the full list of after parties with links to purchase tickets here.
5) Fun Fest Events
Everyone knows that North Coast 2015 will have tons of great music, but there’s more fun to be had than just live performances! The Silent Disco will be returning this September, so get ready to dance your hearts out! Also returning is the super cool Living Gallery – presented by The Elder Tree – where you can see live art, art installations, and catch some music sets as well.
NCMF 2015 will be held September 4th-6th at Chicago’s Union Park. It is “summer’s last stand,” so let’s make it count! Check out the official site for ticketing, festival information, and more. And don’t forget to drop a comment below to let us know who you’re excited to see!
